I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about mobility lately. It’s become a trendy new topic that the fitness industry has latched onto. Pilates has been concerned with mobility since its inception more than 50 years ago. Mobility is the ability to move through a full range of motion without pain or compensation. It’s important because, as we say, mobility before stability, or ideal movement before strengthening. We need to first try to achieve optimal range of motion in each and every joint and only then can we start to strengthen the body optimally. Mobility is a practiced/learned ability - something that should be strived for daily.
